En principio considero que el estudio descontextualizado de la gramática no aporta gran cosa al aprendizaje de lenguas. Dicho esto, la aplicación parece que hace lo que promete, y gratuitamente (al menos para el perfil alumno, que acabo de probar) y eso se agradece.

GrammarFlip is a unique opportunity that students are able to engage in different grammar lessons and activities at their own speed. They earn badges as they complete lessons and are successful in their writing. They do not simply learn different aspects of grammar in isolation but then they are able to learn how the techniques work together in order to create a well written piece of writing. This program can help to create a "flipped" student driven classroom to engage and enhance their writing.

This is an interesting topic since it provides enough arguments about what could we expect from our students in terms teaching a language, how can we overcome mistakes and apply strategies to improve their skills during learning.

I found this article really interesting and meaningful to my professional development in view of the fact that grammar is one of the most difficult language features that students have to deal with. Grammar checkers provide student with a good opportunity to realize their grammatical mistakes during the writing process while at the same time they enhance self-monitoring skills and language proficiency. Three grammar checkers are presented throughout this article: Grammarly, Grammar and Spelling Checker and Language Tool. Among the advantages of these online platforms have we can say that they help, both, students and teachers to check grammar and spelling in different social networks and platforms, they provide suggestions to improve students’ own writing style, and finally they find many errors that a simple spell checker cannot detect. From my personal point of view, these online tools that enhance the quality of grammar should not be overused neither by teachers nor by students since this practice can diminish the ability to be self-aware of grammatical structures, syntax and patterns of the target language.

Rap rythm fits the 3-word irregular verbs series pretty well... a bit long to learn though ;-)

Do your students need to practice with grammar and punctuation? Quill provides worksheets for students in Grades 1 - 8 that have spelling and grammar errors. Students have to correct the errors. Quill corrects the papers, showing students what they did correctly, or what needs to be corrected. Create your own classroom, provide students a code to sign-in, and pick your assignments. Students work at their pace and you can view their work through the dashboard. As Richard Byrne states in this post "Having the pre-made activities at your disposal and having the opportunity to quickly see how your students did on each activity will free up some of your time." There is a video that explains the site in more detail, or you may go directly the the website: http://www.quill.org/

Brilliant brainfriendly grammar resource. Motivating, short grammar movies in context with a pause for the students to repeat.. Students could do role playing drills, and them act the dialogue in pairs, record or film themselves with a phone.
Storytelling with pictures and explanations. Besides grammar, enables the students to practice comprehension, pronunciation, vocabulary .
Good for flipped classroom , blended learning, but great to use in class to..
Example: a love story:Past simple or present perfect simple or continuous? | http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XqP8RL2Nlc&feature=share&list=PLA6AEFFFF35FE8B79
In my opinion, all grammars should be based on these principles. Very few are. |
