Air pollution is a huge concern for the developing nations of India and China. China has 1.3 million smog related deaths a year. Beijing is constantly covered in a gray haze that makes it hard to see. It can be changed, as it was during the military parade, but this is not constant. They are trying to move industries outside of Beijing and have more renewable energy. This will help the environment in the long run. I think China needs to fix its environmental problems so that it helps it look better in front of the international community. This will help its social standings in the world. China could provide a blueprint for how to be environmentally friendly while still maintaining economic growth. |
